It’s Medical Monday
Today’s Topic is: Drugs In The Zombie Apocalypse
There will come a time where you or your group will scavenge and encounter drugs that are considered illegal today. Most people will tell you to avoid them; they are bad for you or they are useless. In today’s post we want you to have an open mind considering this goes against what everyone says in the “Zombie survival” world. From a warfare point of view, drugs can be one of your best allies. We all know that we won’t be alone in the zombie apocalypse and certain groups of people will want to take what you have. Drugs depending on their effects can be used to interrogate, confuse or kill people that are a menace to your life in the zombie apocalypse. Drugs can be used to help your forces be on the alert or remain calm. Drugs can also be used as an alternative to a lot of modern medication, here are some examples:
Cocaine: Mix it with sterile water and some lemon juice and it can be injected as a local numbing agent. It will also reduce bleeding if just rubbed into a wound. If a person is having a nose bleed, they only need to snort a small amount and the bleeding will stop. It would be a good thing for your night guards to use to help them stay up all night. The only problem is that it is highly addictive. So it needs to be closely monitored by someone that won’t abuse it.
Marijuana: This is good for “interrogation”. Find a random survivor and you want to “get to know them” before you add them to your group? Smoke them up and they relax and become a little loose tongued. You can figure out their true intentions. Also good for people who are having trouble sleeping and/or have nightmares or don’t have an appetite.
Heroin: Can be shot up before a surgery to keep the patient numb and unconscious. The reversal agent is Naloxone. Be careful though, Naloxone has a shorter half-life than any opioid, so you need to administer it every hour or so or else the person will go back to being high or unconscious.
Opium: can be eaten to cure diarrhea. It will cause constipation if you take it for too long!
Meth, PCP, and LSD have no real use and have the potential to give the user a bad trip and for violence to occur. Ditch them. Or lace your enemy’s water supply.
Mushrooms: If you can’t identify them, don’t eat them. End of story.
Basically my point is, if they are not abused, these kinds of illegal drugs may have some use in a post-apocalyptic world. BUT they have the potential to be abused. The last thing you want is for half your group to become useless drug addicts who can’t help you fight off zombies because they are too stoned/high/messed up to shoot straight.
