“Zombies may be the walking undead, but their contribution to Main Street’s economy is very much alive. In modern times, the zombie genre has evolved from a cult following to a highly popular theme.
Think way beyond zombie movie ticket sales. Think about DVD sales, video games, comic books, novels, Halloween costumes, zombie walks, merchandise, conventions and even zombie art. Add to that all of the websites, homemade movies, Facebook sites, YouTube sites and other forms of “digital†zombies, not to mention music. And if you think the financial tab has been high so far, by the end of 2012 the tab is going to be far larger.â€

I really enjoy reading the above statement and seeing zombie related items all over the place; it reminds me that at least someone cares to keep the Genre alive because from the movie aspect it’s really dead. Now what I don’t get is purchasing a product that is exactly the same as another one and paying more money for it because the word “Zombie†has been inserted in its label. When a label is stuck on something such as a celebrities name and face it might be a bad sign. Now I have not taken such items on personally. I have used some of the equivalents with high success and with more money in my account for other necessary gear and beer. I know that advertising can be tempting but with name drops and ad schemes being more alluring, you should do real research on what’s worth the cash that you will throw at it and you might find you can get better items at the price range or find a similar product at lesser prices.
Keep in mind that we are in the Zombie Genre and not necessarily because a product says “Zombie†it is more effective or better quality than any other product. Now if you are aware of the price hike and you want to contribute and take the extra cash and give it to that company as a “boost of faith†so they can offer competitive prices down the road then by all means do it. Every company starts small and due to operating costs and other things they might have to raise the price a few bucks in the beginning. You should know what a scam is or not. I’m sure you have seen them all over the place. Make sure to shop smart, If you even shop at all.
Did you notice we didn’t mention any brands, labels or anything that would hurt anyone’s business? Let’s keep it that way in our comments. Please talk in general terms if you wish to do so.
