All of this will be distributed between me and my girlfriend. It seems like a lot of stuff, but we have both hiked miles at a time with most of this gear on us, with the exception of a few of the guns. So don’t even start talking about how we won’t be able to carry and run with all this stuff on us. We are in GREAT shape. (I know in one of the pics it looks like I have my finger on the trigger, but my finger is actually curled but outside of the trigger guard. I’m BIG on gun safety, trust me.)

You’ve got way too much stuff. You will only be able to carry all this stuff if either, you stay put, or you have transportation. You have everything covered, but you will dump it all after an hour or so of carrying it around. I give you a 9 for effort but in the end when you get rid of everything you will probably be a 6 at best.
Read the whole thing before you comment. Its all between me and another person. Plus alot of the wepaons are for other people
Still agree with previous post. These things are still going to be able to run, maybe not as quickly, but even in great shape with all of the unnessecary things there are, you’ll end up dinner.
I also think that you have never actually carried so much ammo before. Ammo isn’t like in video games, stuff gets heavy.1000rds of 5.56 Total (500rds 55gr FMJ, 250rds 62gr Armor Piercing, 250rds 75gr Match Boat Tail Hollow Point TAP)

That is ridiculous and completely unfeasible.
Read before you comment. Im not carrying all the ammo. Its between two people. and yes we have carried all of this (besides the 2 weeks emergency food and most the weapons which are for other people)
To explain better. I would only be carrying the AR15 and half the 1911 mags, and my chick would be carrying the shotgun bandolier and the other half of the 1911 mags and proabbly the GSG mags. The other people in my group would have the weapons and mags distributed. I knwo you were probably thinking wed be carrying all these guns and ammo and mags and stuff between jsut the two of us, but thats not how it is
I would have to give you a 0. Reason why is, I’d shoot you and keep your shit for my group lmao!
I would recommend either replacing or complimenting that cold steel kukri with a cold steel trench hawk. trust me, its a zombie slaying death machine. It throws very well, but lets be honest. You dont throw away your weapons in the zompoc. The edge is incredibly sharp and the entire head is drop forged high carbon steel for superior strength. my favorite part though is the spike on the back. has a great angle to it providing deep penetration with little effort. quick too. the handle offers plenty of room for 2 hands if you need a power swing, but the hawk is plenty light enough for even smaller built people to flail it around 1 handed. the polypropylene handle is smooth and strong, with enough grip to satisfy me. optional lanyard hole, and if you want a little more grip some electrical tape is easy enough to add. the sheath is my only gripe. its pretty cool, but in no way is it tactical. I would replace that in a heart beat. but with the hawk being under 35 bucks thats no sweat.

Yea that thing looks SICK! I just got the Kukri for now. Im not a big melee guy anyways, yet i understand the importance of having both guns n melee. U hear too many kids saying you only need melee, or vice versa. They both have their uses and importance!
Hey dude, I live at the top of the grape vine. Me n my berti were posted on here last week. Hit me up n we can go shootin.
Sounds great dude! Thats like an hour or so away! Hit me up brandon_griffin89@yahoo.com

Wow….. your carrying more gear then troops are in either Afghanistan and Iraq.
I don’t know you, but I can tell you this… there is no way in hell you can carry all that gear for a long duration.
If you have a vehicle sure, your set… on foot you and your girl are going to suck wind after the first two or three intense moments and have to ditch 50% of your gear anyway.
In a group setting, I give you and your girl 8.5/10… great job.
Solo, it’s a coin toss cuz either one of you guys go down and your both screwed.
My suggestion… Get a solid crew together, find a cube van, and get some SOP’s sorted out… your probably going to head one of the last surviving defensives so start trying to wrap your head around large group numbers for supplies.
I never said it was JUST me and my girl. I said this was the gear distributed. We have a entire chapter (Zombie Research Society) in Los Angeles. So there will be a group of survivors. And all this gear between two people is EASILY carriable. Ive carried all this MYSELF, minus most of the guns. (Wasnt very easy, but it was done)
You don’t mention anyone else except your girlfriend in the post man so that’s what I am going by.
And I stand by my statement, as a professional soldier I wouldn’t even think about going into a hostile area with that much kit between two people on foot.
Actually I did mention other survivors in my group, where under the weapons part it says that the other weapons are for other survivors in our group. Plus its better to have more then less because you can always ditch what you don’t need if you cant carry it, but if we are using a car then we are fine. I have a lot of stuff because I can bring what the situation calls for. Just because I have all this stuff, it doesn’t mean I’d take it all if i couldn’t or didn’t have too, it’s just there because it’s better to have it just in case.
No matter how greatly in shape you are, your gonna get tire, bro. Great gear, but seriously. Its way too much. This guy also sounds cocky, which is a definate weakness. When you get cocky, you either get sloppy or reckless, both of which mean death. I’d say an 8.
did you also read that its not just me carrying all this? how did i sound cocky? i didnt say anything but what my gear was and that we are in great shape, cuz i KNEW everyone was going to comment on how heavy everything was. thats not being cocky.
You get the highest rating I’ve given to anyone, a 9 out of 10. Good job and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. I have 3 times the stock you have listed. I would rather have too much than not enough. When the time comes, when all these complainers come beating on our doors, needing our help or to steal our gear, they will find out how much ammo I really do have. I would rather have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
THANK YOU! And its called stockpiling for a reason. Not to mention, for the first week or so (depending on situation of the severity) I will be barricaded in my house. Id only take what i needed anyways.
Well, I’d say in a static defense you’ve easily got a 9/10. You have great supplies, excellent weapons, and a good stock pile of ammo. Like everyone else is saying though, if you have to move and you dont have the ability to move mounted it’s going to be very slow and grueling. However, it’s not entirely impossible. So, if you dont have a vehicle and you have to move I’d say 7/10 based on lack of speed and mobility due to the weight of gear. You still stand excellent chances of survival.
Read all before u comment.
Hey guys! I never said i would be CARRYING all this myself!!! Do you guys not read? its between 2 people, plus i said we werent carrying all the weapons and that they were for other people. READ before you comment!!!
And you guys TRUELY dont know how heavy it all is cuz u havent personally carried my gear. All of this is EASILY carried between two people, and not to mention ive carried it ALL myself and it wasnt easy but it was done. So please enough with the “i cant carry it all” comments and just Rate and explain, without the Weight issue please. This is the reason i explained how we’ve went hiking with all of it on were able to run and walk no problem for extents of time.
Lol, it’s almost like reading the exact same reply over and over.
After throughly reading all the above posts, I give you a 9/10. Minus 1 point just because there is always some situation that even the MOST prepared cannot prepare for.
As for you kit being too heavy…
My kit weighs over 15lbs, I’m a 125lbs woman and I’ve carried it 50 miles in less than 24 hours during the dead of winter.
It’s about knowing your limits and your fitness level. It’s also about training those fitness levels and pushing yourself that bit further.
If and when the apocalypse occurs, I want you and your girl on my team
Well if you live in Los Angeles, or even somewhere near in California, then by all means, you can be on our team, lol. But yea, i appreciate your comment and understanding. We know our fitness level and limits and thats the exact reason we went hiking and walked and ran with all our gear to see how far we could go, and it worked out PERFECTLY with all our gear.
Also, want to buy the Cold Steel Kukri for my fiance for his birthday. Pros and cons?
Read what Anonymous wrote about it. He was dead on. He talked about the cold steal kukri and the cold steel trench hawk. ANd hes right about both. I personally like the Kukri, but I am definitely thinking about getting the trench hawk. So chekc out both descriptions on the websites. http://www.majorsurplus.com for the kukri and for the trench hawk he put up the link.
Cheers
I was a grunt. So, trust me I understand weight ratios and distances, and carry it all and what not. We’d to 25 kilometers a day with 80 pounds of gear. I’d want you on my team though. You have an awesome set up either way. I wasnt trying to be a dick or say you’d suck or anything. I was simply pointing out that regardless of your physical condition, carrying a boatload of gear for a long period of time for a long distance is going to wear you out. You’re set up is excellent for a “stay put (static defense)” deal though. You have the weapons, the supplies, the ammo. Why move if you can just sit tight?
I wasnt offended at all bro, lol. I just wanted to make sure that you knew that it wasn’t just me carrying all this. Its me and my girl and whoever else is with is. If it was just us two in the case that no one else made it, Then we’d only carry a primary and secondary firearm, and a melee weapon or two. So that means we wouldnt carry ALL the ammo and mags, just the ones for our guns wed be carrying. But as far as the gear, it would be split up between both of us and we’ve carried it before and it wasnt that heavy, not to mention all the NBC and tactical gear we would be wearing, not carrying. And yes your right, at first (and if possible) wed be in a static defense position (our house) which would be barricaded. Only then, if our position was compromised, we would then leave, and only carry what we could. I just wanted ratings as far as what people thought of my loadout, not the weight issue, ya know? But i appreciate your 2nd comment. Cheers!
Where did you get your NBC gear? I’ve been looking for some myself. Its hard to find unopened MOPP gear. I was always told. that MOPP gear loses its abilities fast after being removed from the vacuum sealed baggie it comes in, so thats an item I’d rather jam in the ruck and keep my pro-mask handy on my hip so I can at least mask up fast if I have to. Fortunately I’ve never had the misfortune of having to test any of that stuff in the real world except the mask. Did you find yours used or new and where did you find it, and what was the cost?
I got my gas mask off of http://www.approvedgasmasks.com
I got the NBC chem suit off of http://www.quakekare.com and it was vacuum sealed, but the one i got (the special forces one) doesnt lose its usefulness when opened. It is embedded with charcoal and only loses it strength the longer you are in an NBC enviroment, just like most chem suits. the approved gas mask site and also http://www.copsplus.com has all the riot gear i bought too. heres a list of all the sites and stores i bought my gear from:
http://www.majorsurplus.com
http://www.approvedgasmasks.com
http://www.copsplus.com
http://www.sgammo.com (very cheap ammo)
http://www.quakekare.com
http://www.nukepills.com
http://www.exilemachine.net/shop (mags and accessories)
exile machine will also send hi cap mags to hi cap restricted states, cause they send them as parts repair kits (disassembled) which is totally legal.
Outstanding, thanks for the list. I’ll definitely be ordering from most of them. Yeah, the army always taught me that if you open the suit, it starts to lose its effectiveness right away. So, don’t open it unless you absolutely have too…That’s the army for you. It’s amazing how their generals and officers really have no clue. Thanks, bud, I appreciate the extra sources. I’ve got a ton of gear, ammo, supplies, and what not stocked up, but I’m always in the market for different and cheaper sources.
well certain NBC gear DOES lose its effectiveness if opened but most gear loses effectiveness after time. Gas mask filters lose effectiveness if unsealed but NBC suit and gas masks lose it over time regardless.
2.
Over encumbered and well… I got a really bad gut feeling ’bout this kid. Sure he’s got the gear and shit but with such a huge list of things he’s not gonna be real organised when trying to find shit on the run… My gut feeling tells me he wont fare too well and I prefer to trust my gut then my opinion.
Did you happen to read that it wasn’t just me carrying all that? Its distributed between me, my girl, and 2 other people. Obviously if any of them cant make it, then I take less with me, and the 2 weeks of food n water is for a static position at my house, if possible. I’m obviously not going to be carrying 5 rifles.
I re-read and re-evaluated… My gut still says shit will hit the fan at the worst possible moment for you. But, I’ll give your group an 8.
I only read key points before and assumed it was only you and your girl. My bad Muchacho.
“Oh hey, you brought to much stuff man” “You seriously think you can carry that all on your own?” “Omg 9/10 if you stay static” well I say stfu to all of those. This guy is legit. Man, when the Z day comes around and we’ve waited a week or to, I will personally… Wait on the outskirts of LA because there’s no way in hell I’m going into that kind of population density. I give you 10/10 static and 9.5 if you move after a waiting period of x amount of weeks. I call dibs on one of those rifles.
…even though I have plenty of my own.
hahaha, dude!!! I could use someone like you in my group, and I would GLADLY throw you an extra rifle. I like the way you talk! You sir, are legit too! I hope you actually live in LA….
nice kit…you have a ton of shit, true but a fair kit nonetheless…some things to consider…what do you have on your person all the time? if you could choose where and when the apocalypse happens, great but the thing of it is you can’t…i would suggest or recommend cutting your kit down considerably, or better still duplicating some certain items into a nondescript carry bag that you get in the habit of taking with you everywhere you go…what do you have as far as a vehicle…do you work at home…even if you only stray a few miles from your home/bunker for work and play it is a good idea to have a good evasion bag handy…less is more…even a small bag moderately equipped is going to weigh 10 to 20 pounds, without food and water…and water is heavy…a change of clothes is a huge comfort, sweat pants and hoodie are invaluable allies and comfort is the difference between madness and viable sustainability…i also notice that you have a good medical kit but consider the need for anti-biotics, get them from a vet supply or something if you cannot get a prescription…anti-histimene, anti-itch cremes and anti-diarrheals are also worth noting…diarrhea WILL kill you if you have a limited supply of fresh drinking water…i suppose i would like to go on but would like to know any responses to my commentary…again i have to say you have a great kit but there is more to consider than a house full of gear…best of luck, because there is that too
I appreciate your constructive criticism, unlike some douchebags that just like to talk shit. But anyways, I don’t need to cut down the kit because in the event I need to go on the move, I will only carry the most important and weight efficient items, so like I’ve said before, having more then I need is fine because I can always leave stuff behind. As far as the stuff you mentioned that I don’t have, thanks for the tips, I will keep those in ind but I am still not finished with my kit, those are things I haven’t got around to getting
Again I appreciate your matureness
i would say 9 1/2 good for walking into the bush and staying ther for weeks before needing to re-supply on perishables. however i dont like the fully automatic weapons, once things get crazy you burn through ammo easily.
Who said those were fully automatic weapons? I am a civilian and all my weapons are civilian legal. But your right, when it comes down to it, I would definitely choose semi auto weapons, and even choose semi on a select fire weapon i may come across
“GSG-5 (MP5) .22LR Pistol (No Stock, Short Barrel) w/ Reflex Holographic Sight, Sliding Stock (Not Attached Until Z-Poc happens, since I have not filed SBR paperwork), 2 Point Sling.”
Why would you put a holographic site on a short barreled .22?
more importantly, wtf would you take a .22LR? ?
It’s not a TRUE holographic site. It’s a 60$ reflex sight but works good on a .22LR since there’s no recoil to throw off the MOA. Also .22LR’s will be VERY useful in Z-day. It is NOT my primary weapon nor would it ever be, but they are useful for close range human threats, for hunting and for being silent. I know they are not good for taking out zombies, but if it’s just one zombie and I don’t want to attract more, I can use my .22LR close range and hit the Zed in the right spot and kill it. The ammo is VERY abundant and VERY useful. Why would you wanna waste Hi Powered ammo on small game? I can carry 5000 rounds of .22LR and not even FEEL the weight. They are great as secondary and misc weapons! Don’t judge .22′s!
5-10 depending have far in to la u are and how far ur work is also account how far people i your group live from u load up is good if to far in to city u want just hope zoms dont surround your house might want map some places can stay once out of city
Yea, I dont live deep in LA, thankfully. I live in the outskirts of the city, so it would hopefully be an easy escape. Can’t say it WILL because you NEVER know, but none the less, I definitely have a better chance of getting out of the city from my location. To answer your other concerns, I am currently not working but I usually carry a mini B.O.B. in my car to sustain me until I get home. As far as the other people in my group, besides my wife since she will obviously be with me, I wont be waiting up for them if I have to bounce. I will wait for them If time and situation permits.
This is a great bugout kit, man. Especially since it’s going to be distributed throughout a large group. Too many people didn’t read the whole thing. And great on you for having a suppressed weapon! The Cold Steel Kukri is cool, but I have a USGI machete and a Swiss-made hatchet in mine. I’m definitely going to grab up some of those 3600 calorie bars for myself, though. Still need to pick up an AR-15 for my kit. I have too much crap from 8 years as a Marine to not get myself one. Most of my gun nut friends are suggesting the S&W M&P 15 for a solid, no-frills weapon. Right now my guns are only a Taurus Judge and a Remington 870. Also, wearing my old FROG gear. Year, it’s desert camo, but it’s fire retardant, so I count that as a huge plus. And I love the water filter on my 3 liter camelback. I’d love to get some tips from you and swap the BS, lol. You can reach me at GruntJoe@gmail.com.
Thanks, shoot straight and run fast!
Hey bro, thanks for the comment. Ill be sending ya an email and we can shoot the shit. But as far as AR-15s go, I can’t really give you an opinion on the M&P 15′s, I’m sure they’re great guns, but personally I’d suggest going the gas piston route. It’s got the reliability of an AK inside an AR15. Also, less cleaning needed as the gas and crud that usually gets blown back into your bold carrier and surrounding area in a “D.I.” system, gets blown out of the handgaurd area in a Gas Piston config! That’s DEFINITELY a plus if your in a Post Apoc situation and cleaning your rifle isn’t always an option. Now the downside is Gas Piston platforms AR or not, are usually AT LEAST $2,000. Fortunately, I was lucky enough to be guided on my 1st AR purchase and was told to buy the Stag Arms Model 8, which IS a gas piston AR and only 1200 bux! (maybe less now). So, all in all go with the AR i got, I promise you WONT be disappointed!
Also, I have a few more weapons added to my arsenal:
I loved the Draco so much, I bought the AK47 Hellpup (available at http://www.atlanticfirearms.com ) which is like the Draco (short barrel, no stock) but American made with synthetic furniture, rails and just looks badass! Priced at only $650!! I also just bought a Howa Lightning .308 bolt action Sniper Rifle at Turner’s and it came with a 10 Round detachable magazine kit which is super cool instead of having the 4 round box. Also got a real nice 4x 32mm Sniper scope that illuminates red or green! And Bought the Axiom Knoxx Stock with Pistol Grip and Telescoping Stock to replace the original stock! Looks SWEET! Anyways, I’ll shoot ya an Email!
Oh yea forgot one more gun I bought… I bought the Hi-Point 9mm Pistol. It was on sale for only $149!!! Now I know what your all going to say, but read the reviews!!! This pistol is nice!!! You’d think for the price it’s a crappy gun but it really isn’t. I think EVERYONE should buy one, especially cause they’re so inexpensive ($169 MSRP). They also have the .380 version, and maybe another caliber, I forget. But they do have Carbines as well (9mm, .40, and .45) Check ‘em out. I’d recommend the pistols over the carbines though.
Honestly, I haven’t heard great things about Hi-Points. I mean, it’s a great throw-away, I’m sure, but, when I get myself a semi-auto pistol, I’m torn between two guns: The FN Five-SeVen, since it’s a nail-driver out of the box and it’s high capacity, or a Beretta 92F, for how common the ammo is (scrounging) and, like the AR-15, for all the crap I already have for it (mags, lanyard, SERPA holster), not to mention that I can already field-strip the damn thing and put it back together with my eyes closed. Either way, I’ll get a suppressor for the pistol, to keep things a little more subtle when I need to. And don’t get me wrong, I’m a HUGE fan of the AK. Used to teach classes on that wonderful, idiot-proof rifle. I just have more stuff for ARs, and I can clean a filthy AR back to full functionality in about a half-hour to 45 minutes. 15 minutes for either my shotgun or a Beretta (can’t say for a Five-Seven, haven’t gotten the chance for hands-on time), and maybe 2 minutes for my Judge. I mean, it’s a revolver, which is not hard to clean at all, lol. Boresnake twice through the barrel, once through each chamber, scrub the frame with a rag real quick and you are done-sir-done! The bolt-action sounds like a decent find, but I’m holding out for this bad boy, if I do get a long-range gun: http://www.gibbsrifle.com/1903-a4_sniper_rifle.html. It’s sturdy, you can hit stuff with it, and it shoots a pretty hefty caliber with a scope that won’t get messed up from it. Now, that is a big if. What I’ll probably do is get a Trijicon ACOG for the AR, since I have about 7 years shooting experience with it and I can hit a man-sized target at 500 yards with pretty good regularity. Lotsa fun training, lol. Need to pick up a TacVest, but I can do that when I get the AR. Looking at the Rifleman’s Vest from Tactical Tailor. I’ve already got a couple pieces of gear from them and they’re really sturdy.
