The equipment a person has only widens the availability to use skills already in place, rather than determining survivability. A note should be made that better or more versatile equipment will increase the chance of survival, but is not the most important factor. Those with more applicable extreme situational training will be far better suited to survive regardless of the equipment they may or may not have.
However, based solely on equipment I would say a rating of 7 since he has a higher level of preparedness than the average person. The shotgun user generally has at least one bandoleer or shell belt to carry more ammunition and make reload far quicker, which is why I rated at 7 instead of 8.

I would swap out canteens and carry a camelback instead. We have camelbacks everywhere we go when on patrol, they are harder to lose than a canteen or bottle and carrying it on your back distributes the weight better which would leav room for more mags or an additional back up/secondary weapon. The tomahawk idea is a good one, but an e-tool might even be better for it’s multi purpose ability. All in all, I’d hang with ya to survive another day.

But i’ll say it again, w are both wildland firefighters for the federal govt. Both have critical stress trainin, have first responder medical training, wilderness survival training, including edible and medicinal plant identification. I (the one on the right) am an nra certified firearms instructor (retired). Additionally, does anyone think a rational human would spend this much money on gear and not have the skills and a plan to put said gear to proper use? Yes, I do think someone would spend tons of money on alot of gear that they have no idea how to use. Not saying you guys dont know how, but just wanted to comment that every gun show is loaded up with amex shoppers buying gear they have no idea how to use thanks to shows like sons of guns and the likes. And we are now left with alot of idiot out there with really good gear and no sense of what it can do.
