Like most animals humans are territorial and we get very defensive about it. Even as kids you where picky about your room. You get upset about everything even about the mug you used. If you doubt this just try going a week without arguing about your sports team.
For century’s human’s have fought tribe on tribe, nation on nation, army on army even ideal on ideal. Don’t think that just because we’re not in the Middle East squaring off “peace keepers” and “Terrorists” it does not mean we are super civilized and are any less territorial. We still see territorial disputes that escalate into real violence with all too real consequences. How many days go by without a gang related death or someone being brought to the ER with injury’s due to gang related violence?

Even as kids we defended our blocks with all the effort we could muster. Starting from the time honored “My Dad can beat up your Dad” to the roll on the ground bare knuckle dust up. Always there were the bullies and the victims, occasionally one stood up to the other.

Come the Zompoc things won’t be any better in fact they may even get worse. Right now the only thing that keeps many people from just hauling off and blasting the guy at work that’s a jerk is the consequence of getting caught. The law’s are all that keep some people from acting out. Already people are willing to shoot first and that’s when the pizza guy wants a tip. Granted we will need to be on the defense during that time but what’s to stop someone from taking advantage of the situation? Don’t like someone? Just wait for a time when you’re alone together, say you find yourself on guard duty together. A couple of shots fired and a fake scuffle and “It was Marauders“. Who would question you?

Traveling alone is no guarantee either you’ll spend all your hours either watching over your shoulder for an attack or listening for your home made alarms while you try to sleep. I suggest that whatever you do, try to get along with people. Society may not be perfect but it seems to work.
