So for the most part people know that a Bug Out Bag is designed for you to get from Point A to Point B in a Zombie Apocalypse, Emergency Situations or any Natural Disasters such as Hurricanes, Floods. It’s usually a 72 hour pack meaning that it should get you through 3 days sometimes more. Bug Out Bags are User preference, there are no right or wrong things that you put in it. Be mindful that there are some basic things you need to pack. Your primary concerns are Water, Shelter, Food, Fire Starting and Self Defense items when preparing a Bug Out Bag, without these you will die.
If you apply the rule of 3′s to the bag, That means pack 3 independent items or things that overlap for your primary concerns this will ensure that you wont be caught off guard. A Back Pack and its weight should be chosen according to your body type, weight and physical condition. The Backpack itself should be able to withstand the elements and not take a shit on you when most needed. When you pack your bag make sure you take it on a test run to see if you can maneuver through obstacles efficiently and doesn’t wear you out. Weight is a big issue, if it slows you down then basically consider yourself a zombie happy meal aka you’re fucked!
This post is to give you some categories to divide your bag. By using categories and Kits you will have an efficient bag that is organized and you will spend less time looking for stuff.
Categories:
Water and Food, Shelter, Fire Starting, Range Weapons, Melee Weapons, Clothing, Personal Hygiene, Camp Kitchen, Maintenance/Tools, Lighting, Repair Kit/Supplies, Information, Hunting and Fishing, First Aid Kit, Communications, Entertainment, Optics, NBC, Other/Special.
All the Items that you have should be bagged in waterproof Zip Tight bags and should be labeled by category. These will be called your KITS, If you want to be proactive you can even write the contents of the Kit on the outside of the bag this will even speed up your search of items. Here is a brief example of how your list should look based on the things you deem are necessary and the skills that you possess.
